"We want to go far in this tournament."Robert Ohlsson, Head Coach of Djurgården Stockholm
Djurgården were founded in 1891 and have ever since been the most prominent club throughout Swedish sporting history. No other club has won more sporting championships combined than Djurgården. The ice hockey club was founded in 1922 and has won 16 championships throughout its history – more than any other Swedish team. Their most recent in 2001. The club has produced many successful players over the years such as Mats Sundin, Niklas Kronwall and Mika Zibanejad.
As a founding member of the CHL, the club took part of the competition under the old format for the first three seasons. However, they only managed to make it as far as the Round of 16 and haven’t been able to make it any further since, missing the 2017/18 CHL season all together.
A resurgent 2017/18 season saw Djurgården Stockholm qualify for the CHL by finishing as runners-up in the SHL Regular Season. Last season they finished fourth and made it all the way to the playoff finals. With this newly gained form the club will hope to add to their huge amount of past success and finally have a good run into the knock-out stages of the Champions Hockey League.
