DAVOS – Ole-Kristian Tollefsen, defenceman and alternate captain of Farjestad Karlstad, knew his team needed a win. He was on the ice in overtime for a power play despite receiving a cut on his jaw moments earlier. After Robbie Earl scored on the power play to bring Farjestad their first two points in the CHL this year, he received treatment for his minor injury, then answered a few questions about the game and the team.
How is it playing such highly competitive games so early in the season, effectively still summer?
You get together as a team, and it’s basically happening almost before you start, and suddenly you’re playing important games so it’s a little tough. You also really don’t know anything about the teams you’re playing against, but it’s a fun way to start the season.
Following on from that, how was the ice today with it being so warm outside?
Yeah it is warm out there, but it’s been like that for every game so far so we know about it and it’s fine.
Were you happy with the amount of chances you limited Davos to, considering last week’s 4–0 defeat at home?
Yeah, we wanted to come out a lot stronger this game. We actually played a pretty good first period in the last game, but then we got away from our game plan. Today we carried our game plan through for 60 minutes, and although we’d have loved the 3 points, we’ll take the 2.
You now know what’s needed in the next two games. You’re on the road on Sunday, I believe?
Yeah, we have a game in Pardubice on Sunday. It’s gonna be a tough game but we’re looking forward to it. Right now we’re practising hard, there’s a very good spirit in the group and it’s also good for us to get away for a few days.
Is the squad more or less set for the season, or are there any more additions to the lineup due?
No, our team is pretty much set, yeah. We brought in a couple of good guys and pretty much maxed out our salary cap so we’re set.
