Both teams met Munich at home in their opening game, with the Swiss side winning 3-0 and the Czechs going down 4-3. With this their last home game of the group stage, Fribourg have a chance to go clear at the top of Group F before beginning their road series. For Znojmo, meanwhile, this is a chance to collect their first CHL points as they aim to climb out of the group basement.
"We have seen some videos of Fribourg games. We know we are facing another opponent of top quality. It is like playing Barcelona in football. Our players can only benefit from that and gain priceless experience," says Znojmo head coach Jiri Reznar. "I actually thought we played well against Munich. Yes, some people say we did not have a lot of puck posession, but I liked the fact that we did not let them have a lot of chances, we kept our shape and played organized. That's how we have to play in Fribourg, as well."
Defenceman Libor Sulak, who scored a hat-trick in the first game against Munich, added, "I think we have played quite well in our first game but lost our composure in the third period after conceding a quick goal. That cannot hapen again. If we avoid that and keep our concentration throughout 60 minutes, I believe we can get some points in Switzerland."
Fribourg will be getting some re-inforcements, with Swiss Hockey News reporting that three players will be returning to the lineup from injuries – defenceman Marc Abplanalp and forwards Chris Rivera and Anton Gustafsson. Forward John Fritsche remains out.
