Fribourg-Gottéron have become the third CHL club to make a change in the head coaching department this season, relieving Hans Kossman of his duties.

HC Fribourg-Gottéron made a public statement on Sunday to announce a coaching change. Former head coach Hans Kossmann has been relieved of his duties, and he will be substituted on an interim bais by assistant René Matte, with Dany Gélinas serving as an assistant.

"For the players on the team, whose responsibility is assumed, this is a second chance to truly start their season after a catastrophic start," the club said. "The short-term goal is to restore confidence to the group, enabling it to regain its place among the top eight teams in the country and qualify for the playoffs."

The club has collected eight points from its first 11 games in Switzerland's NLA and sits in 11th place out of 12 teams. The poor start to Fribourg's NLA schedule is in contrast to their play in the Champions Hockey League, where they won Group D and will now face IFK Helsinki in the eighth-final round.

Fribourg is the third CHL club to change its head coach since the start of the competition, but the first one to do so that has qualified for the playoff stage of the competition.
