The past week was not particularly active as far as CHL clubs are concerned, but two defencemen did move from one CHL club to another – Ryan Glenn from Karpat to Sparta and Josh Meyers from Krefeld to Stavanger. Also, Braehead signed goalie Chris Holt and Bern signed Andrew Ebbett.

After a weekend of relative inactivity, the big news on Monday was the transfer of Canadian defenceman Ryan Glenn from one Champions Hockey League club to another – Karpat Oulu to Sparta Prague.
“All three parties came to an agreement – Sparta, Karpat and the player – so Ryan's on his way here.” confirmed Sparta sports manager Patrik Martinec. “This is a very experienced player who won the Finnish title last season.”
In addition to helping Karpat to the Finnish title last season, he also helped the northern Finnish club get to the CHL semi-finals with 5 points (1 + 4) in 12 games. Glenn, 35, has spent the last seven seasons in Europe, five of those in Finland. In addition to Karpat, he's also played for CHL clubs KalPa Kuopio and Red Bull Salzburg.
Last week, another defenceman moved from one CHL club to another – American Josh Meyers, 29, who goes from the Krefeld Pinguine to the Stavanger Oilers.
“I saw Josh play in the AHL before he went to Germany. He is a very solid defenceman. Large in stature, 191cm, but not only physical – he's also smart, a good skater and has a good slap shot, which is something will help our power play,” said Stavanger GM Pal Higson. “He comes highly recommended and is described as a disciplined player with a strong work ethic. He has good hockey sense and during his years in Krefeld was part of the team's group of captains. He is a nice addition for us.”
Last week, the Braehead Clan and Stavanger Oilers also made some significant pick-ups. Braehead acquired former NHL and KHL goaltender Chris Holt.
“A big factor is how active Braehead was in trying to make this deal work. They were really enthusiastic about the possibility of bringing me onto the club, and that resonated well with me,” Holt said on an audio interview on the club's website.
Immediately upon the announcement Holt was flooded with tweets from Braehead fans, welcoming him to the fold. The 30-year-old goalie said, “It shows great things about the people there, that they're so appreciative of what the goalie before me had done, so I'm not surprised at how supportive they are and they appear to be such wonderful people. It's very nice to see and it's nice to feel a great deal of support before I even step foot in your country.”
Another big acquisition by a CHL club is SC Bern's signing of veteran forward Andrew Ebbett. Ebbett, 32, has played 243 NHL regular-season and playoff games, recording 74 total points (27 + 47).
