With their win on Friday night, Herning Blue Fox have secured first place in the Danish Ligaen, and with it qualify for a C-License for the 2015–16 Champions Hockey League.

With three games left in their regular season, the Herning Blue Fox entered Friday night's game against the Odense Bulldogs needing three points to clinch first place. They were trailing 2–1 after one period, but scored four times in the second to win 5–2 on the road. At the same time, defending champions SonderjyskE Vojens won 6–1 in Gentofte to keep pace, but with only one remaining regular season game, the best they can do is tie Herning in points, and Herning hold the tie-breaker.

The regular season concludes on Sunday and the playoffs begin next Friday.

As winners of the Danish Ligaen regular season, Herning qualify for a Champions Hockey League C-License for 2015–16, which is conditional on the club meeting the league's requirements. The other C-License for the Danish league will go to the playoff champion. If Herning also win the playoffs, it will go to second-placed SonderjyskE, who played in this year's competition.

The Herning Blue Fox are the third team to qualify for a C-License for next season. The first was Neman Grodno of Belarus, who won the IIHF Continental Cup. The second was HC Kosice, who have already clinched first place in the Slovak Extraliga. Ten C-Licenses will be awarded in all, with two each going to Norway, Slovakia, Denmark and Great Britain and one to France and Belarus.
