It's been a great season for HC Litvinov, so it's only fitting that they claim the second B-License for the 2015–16 CHL season. The first spot was claimed by Ocelari Trinec, who finished first in the regular season while Litvinov finished second.
The last challenger for the extra spot was Kometa Brno, who fell to Litvinov in the five-game semi-final series. On Friday night, the series wrapped up with Litvinov winning 3–2 on home ice. The series-winning goal was scored in overtime by Peter Jansky in the 68th minute. It was their first lead of the game.
"It is not easy to make the final step," Litvinov coach Radim Rulik said on the team website. "We obviously have experienced players but also some who are experiencing it for the first time in their lives. It's never an easy thing (to close a series out) and at first it seemed to me that it constrained us, but the last five minutes of the first period we picked ourselves out and looked better out there."
Litvinov will now wait for the winner of the Trinec-Sparta Prague series to see who their opponent in the finals will be. That series is tied 2–2.
