As we move into 2017, there is lots of excitement on the Champions Hockey League horizon.
Semi-Finals and Final
Who’ll contest the 2016-17 Champions Hockey League Final? We’ll know after the Semi-Finals take place this month, with the first-leg matches only being nine days away. Fribourg-Gotteron face Frolunda Gothenburg and the Vaxjo Lakers take on Sparta Prague for places in the Final. Those games take place on the 10 and 17 January, with the Final on 7 February.
Race to qualify and New playing format
Starting from the 2017-18 season, the CHL will begin with its new playing format – however, it also affects how teams will qualify for next season’s competition based on their results this season. The new format will see 32 teams take part, with no more automatic places for founding clubs.
