Hockey fans in Switzerland will get a healthy dose of the Champions Hockey League for the next three seasons, as broadcasters SRG and Teleclub will combine to cover all CHL games involving Swiss clubs.
Press Release
MUNICH – the sportsman media group is able to announce the sale of the broadcast rights to the Champions Hockey League in Switzerland. The Munich-based sports rights agency has sold the media rights to the new European ice hockey tournament to the Schweizerische Radio-und Fernsehgesellschaft (Swiss Broadcasting Corporation – SRG) and pay-TV station Teleclub, to broadcast the CHL exclusively for three seasons.
Teleclub will broadcast all home and away games in the CHL with Swiss involvement live and the SRG will cover all Swiss games until the quarter-finals in the form of summaries on its sport shows on SFR, RTS and RSI. From the semi-finals onwards, SRG will broadcast all Swiss games live. SRG will produce at least 36 games -- all home games of the Swiss participants -- as Host Broadcaster.
EV Zug, ZSC Lions, SC Bern and HC Fribourg-Gottéron are the Swiss-based founding members of the CHL, while EHC Kloten Flyers and Genève-Servette HC also qualified for the 2014/2015 season.
Lutz Tigges, Director of Media Rights at the sportsman media group, comments: “We are really pleased that two broadcasters in Switzerland with a lot of ice hockey experience will be extensively reporting on the Champions Hockey League in the future. Switzerland is an important ice hockey market and both SRG and Teleclub will present the games in a high-quality manner.”
