Vitkovice in firm control
You never want to say that a series is over with still half of it to play, but this one is close. After scoring a huge 7-0 win in their home game, Vitkovice are in firm control and nothing short of a disaster will prevent them from going on to the Round of 16 for the first time.
“We really needed this type of game and those goals,” said Ondrej Roman, who had 3 goals for Vitkovice. “From the beginning it was a tough game, but after we scored more goals it was easier for us. Our third and fourth goals, those were the breaking points of this game.”
“At the start of the third period we wanted to keep our net shut and score some goals to have a good starting position for our home game, but Vitkovice scored four more goals,” sighed Nitra's Filip Bajtek.
Even if they don't have a great shot at advancing, Nitra surely want to come out with a strong effort on home ice and win the game as a reward to their fans, who have been great for them at home and away.
Juraj Stefanka said after the game in Ostrava, “I would like to thank our fans who came to this game. We have to apologize that we conceded seven goals. I can assure them that home game will be much better from our side.”
Looking ahead to the game in Nitra, Vitkovice's Vojtech Tomi said, “Nitra is strong opponent, physically mainly. They are not really fast, but surely a tough opponent. They will be stronger at home – they have great fans and they will push them towards better hockey. It will be tough game.”
