It has been a tough night for HC Davos and their fans. Their 2-2 draw in the Champions Hockey League Round of 16 Return Game against Tappara Tampere wasn't enough for them to move on to the Quarter-Finals, with the Swiss team exiting the competition 2-3 down on aggregate score. But the game, which had many ups and downs, could have played out differently.
Davos entered the all-or-nothing Return Game one-goal down, following last week's First Game that their Finnish opponents won 1-0.
We conceded two unlucky goalsEnzo Corvi, HC Davos
After a goalless first period, the traditional Swiss club, that annually hosts the Spengler Cup - the world's oldest ice hockey tournament, scored the first goal of the game in the second period to tie the series 1-1, but two third-period goals just 25 seconds apart from Tappara would end their hopes of turning the score around.
Enzo Corvi, who scored the first goal of the game, would also go on to score his side's second, but to no avail.
"I think we played a good game," he started, "for the first two thirds we were the better team but then we conceded two unlucky goals to lose the game "
What are his thoughts on the entire series?
"In Davos it was a close game," said the 29-year-old, "and today both teams could have won - we just didn't have the luck."
Despite the long journey, many Davos fans made the trip to Finland to support their team on the road.
"A big applause for our fans," said Corvi, "they support us home and away - I've already said many times that we have the best fans in Switzerland!"
