It was a game of tough defending and control as four-time Czech Extraliga champions Oceláři Třinec lined up against HC Davos in Switzerland on Game Day 5.
Despite leaving their all on the ice, Třinec were unable to break through Davos' defence and failed to get a single puck into the net of Davos goaltender Sandro Aeschlimann.
The Swiss outshot the Czechs 18-9, scoring two within the first 10 minutes of the game and adding two more in the second period forcing Třinec to pull goalie Marek Mazanec in favour of Ondřej Kacetl.
This was Třinec's fourth loss of the season and was the final nail in the coffin for their Playoffs qualification hopes as they are now definitely going to miss out on the Round of 16.
"I'm really disappointed," said Libor Hudáček, "we had a couple of chances, but we didn't score and when you don't score, you can't win"
This was a somewhat special game for the 32-year-old who spent time playing for Lausanne HC and HC Lugano in Switzerland in the last two seasons.
"It's always nice to be back in Davos, but we lost so I am disappointed," he said reflecting on the game.
We need to play at 110% to beat DavosLibor Hudáček, Oceláři Třinec
Třinec will play their final CHL game of the season at home against Davos.
"We will do our best to win our last game at home against Davos, we should win for our fans," said Hudáček.
"But we will have to wait and see - we need to play at 110% to beat Davos," he concluded.
