Czech side Dynamo Pardubice were knocked out of the 2023/24 Champions Hockey League Quarter-Finals by Lukko Rauma following an 8-7 aggregate loss.
After a 6-4 First Game, Pardubice had two goals to make up and though they pushed the Finns down to the final seconds of the Return Game, the 3-2 score wasn't enough to secure extra time or a place in the Semi-Finals.
"I think we had a lot more from this game than they did," said Pardubice's Jan Košťálek after the game, "we pushed them really hard and had way more shots, but they just weren't rebounding towards us."
Pardubice were really on it from the get-go, racking up shot after shot to really test an excellent Samuel Harvey in net. What went wrong?
"We just failed to capitalise on those deciding moments and that one goal just didn't come," thought Košťálek.
The current Czech Extraliga leaders were determined to move on to the Semi-Finals, success on a pan-European stage was a big part of their goals for this season.
"We've been playing really well domestically," commented the 28-year-old D-man, "but we're dissapointed to be ending our Champions Hockey League season at this point - we really wanted to go all the way."
