Czech hosts Vítkovice Ridera beat the Rapperswil-Jona Lakers 4-1 last night in a game which saw the home team's powerplay unit finish with a 50% success rate. Rapperswil outshot Vítkovice 36-19 but still finished second-best on the night as the Czechs were on fire!
Inaki Baragano, Rapperswil's sole goalscorer of the game, was very brief following the game.
"I think we had a lot of chances to score but our penalty kill lost it for us," he said, "we have to do a better job in 5-on-4 situations."
As we have become used to with Rapperswil, they always enjoy very strong away-game support. Their fans donning red have made trips to Germany, Finland and countless other European countries in the last two seasons and feel at home in any arena on the continent.
"Our fans are everywhere we go and a real boost for us!" said Baragano, highlighting them as a positive to take away from this otherwise bad game.
With one overtime win and one regulation loss, Rapperswil's two points put them on the very last Playoffs position of the Regular Season Standings following Game Day 2. If they are to move up, they'll have to pick up more points at home.
Rapperswil's next game in the CHL will see them face Finnish side Lukko Rauma in their very first home game of the season.
