The race to qualify for the milestone 10th season of Europe's biggest club ice hockey competition is in full swing and with 15 places of the 24-strong line-up already filled, a few more teams could be joining the Champions Hockey League in the coming days - here's a full overview!
Czechia
Eight-time CHL participants Oceláři Třinec could be back for a ninth season on Europe's biggest club ice hockey stage as early as tonight! If already qualified Dynamo Pardubice secure their spot in the Extraliga finals tonight, Třinec, who made the CHL Semi-Finals in 2018 and narrowly missed out on a place in the Final, will become our 16th qualifier as they will be sure to make the 2024/25 line-up regardless of the result of their Extraliga playoffs semi-final series against Sparta Prague.
Germany
DEL side the Straubing Tigers could make their second appearance in the CHL if things play out right for them as well. The Tigers finished the DEL regular season as lucky losers (third place) and are currently in a battle for a place in the finals with already qualified Eisbären Berlin.
Fellow CHL qualifiers Pinguins Bremerhaven are also eying the finals and are currently 2-0 up over Red Bull Munich. If Bremerhaven make the finals, Straubing will be confirmed as the league's third and final qualifier as they cover all scenarios.
Switzerland
Next up are Lausanne HC who last played in the CHL in the 2021/2022 season. The National League side are battling for a place in the league playoff finals against Fribourg-Gottéron but only EV Zug stand in their way in terms of CHL qualification.
If Zug are knocked out by already qualified ZSC Lions Zurich, who are currently 2-0 up in their series, you know the drill - Lausanne are through for a third season in our pan-European competition.
Poland
The battle for the Polish national title and the league's one and only place in the CHL is now in progress and is looking very fierce! 2022/23 CHL participants GKS Katowice and Unia Oświęcim - a team we've yet to have welcomed to our European hockey family - are both in the hunt for the title.
Two games in the series is tied at 1-1 with more games scheduled for this and the following week - we'll keep you posted!
