They're the go to men to get the job done, whether it's goals or assists, these players are making the minutes count when it matters the most. Let's take a look at some of the best forwards of the Champions Hockey League 2021/22 Group Stage.
Frederik Tiffels
Red Bull Munich qualified just behind Swedish side Rögle Ängelholm with 12 points in Group D and 26-year-old Frederik Tiffels was an outstanding offensive contributor, closing out the opening games with a plus/minus rating of +8. The Cologne native, who is in his first season with Munich, netted five goals and five assists in six games.
Ten points total puts Tiffels as the top ranked forward for points during the Group Stage.
With four wins in hand and two losses the German side qualified for the Round of 16 and will take on Swiss team Fribourg-Gottéron, who became the first club in CHL history to amass maximum points, blitzing their rivals, and taking six wins in regular time.
Ludvig Larsson
With a 5-1 win-loss record, league debutants Rögle Ängelholm have had what can only be described as a phenomenal start to their first ever CHL season. The Swedish side topped Group D with 14 points and performed superbly against top-notch European clubs, including the likes of EV Zug and Red Bull Munich, who between them have 11 years of CHL experience.
Forward Ludvig Larsson has been a key factor in Rögle's offensive success. The 26-year-old center, who hails from Malmö, has notched three goals and seven assists in six games, for a total of ten points. Larsson has been particularly effective on the powerplay for Rögle, picking up two goals, and rounds out the Group Stage with a plus/minus of +1.
Lino Martschini
To their disappointment, EV Zug didn't make it out of the Group Stage this CHL season, but Swiss native Lino Martschini managed to rack up the points, including two goals, and eight assists in six games. This is the seventh CHL season for the 28-year-old, who has played the majority of his career with Zug and although they weren't successful in qualifiying for the Round of 16, Martschini closed out his contributions with a solid plus/minus rating of +4.
Ben Street
Like his teammate Fredrick Tiffels, Ben Street is another Munich player who has had a great start to his debut season with the German side. Fresh out of the AHL, the 34-year-old forward has a wealth of playing experience in top North American leagues and was guaranteed to be an impact player.
With 523 AHL games to his name and an impressive tally of 439 points, the Canadian didn't have any problems finding the back of the net in his first CHL season. So far he has amassed three goals and six assists in six games. One game-winning goal and two powerplay goals put Street on a plus/minus of +7.
