Time to look at Matchup 4 of the 'Best Goal Voting' - Vause vs. Romano.
An AHL and EBEL Champion, Canadian forward Taylor Vause is in his second season with the Vienna Capitals - but third in the EBEL having previously played in Bolzano. The 26-year old scored three Champions Hockey League goals this season, including the one he's nominated for. That came on Game Day 5 at home to EV Zug as Vause, who knew his side needed to win, deked past two defenseman to slot into a gaping net to put the Capitals 4-3 up.
There's a certain romanticism about Tony Romano's nominated goal. It was one of two that the 30-year-old American scored in this season's competition, but that's not all. It actually turned out to be Romano's last professional goal, as he retired in October 2017 to become an investment banker!
