HC Ambrì-Piotta did something like night in Banská Bystrica that they'd not managed so far this season - winning away from home. The Swiss side blanked their Slovak hosts and put in four of their own to get their first road victory of the new campaign.
"We played a really solid game. We were ready right from the start, and although we gave up a few odd-man rushes our goalie was there to save them," said the forward, whose side now have a realistic shot at making the Round of 16. "It’s a big chance for this organisation to advance in the Champions Hockey League which would be a pretty prestigious thing. We’re looking it it like every other game but know what’s at stake."
D'Agostini netted two goals himself in Ambrì's 4-0 win. "Of course it feels good to put a couple in and get that confidence back, but it was an all-round team game and we have to take the positives from that into our next ones," he added. "Any time you get a win it’s good for the team, and wins on the road can be hard to come by so hopefully it gets us off the mark for the season."
The game was also notable for teammate Dominic Zwerger's 'through the legs' breakaway goal. "I saw it! That’s typical Zwerger, he’s got the silky smooth hands! It was a nice burst of speed to get the breakaway in the first place, and then he knows what to do with it from there!" said D'Agostini of the special goal.
The two sides meet again next week, with Ambrì knowing that they need to better Färjestad's result to make the Playoffs. "We know that the next game will still be a battle. Bystrica won’t have been happy with the result and we know they’ll come out to avenge that" the Canadian concluded.
