The 2026 Champions Hockey League Final is getting closer and closer and both our Finalists, Frölunda Gothenburg and Luleå Hockey, have played their final domestic league games and are now fully focused on the all-or-nothing game ahead!
How have their last five games panned out and in what form do they enter the ultimate game of the CHL season? Let's find out!
Frölunda Gothenburg
Four-time CHL Champions Frölunda Gothenburg have been battling for top spot in the Swedish Hockey League over recent games, but have had a tough string of games since qualifying for their sixth CHL Final after their CHL Semi-Finals Return Game against Brynäs IF in late January.
The most successful club in CHL history have played 11 games domestically since then, only picking up two wins in the process. Looking closer at their two most recent games, the Swedes have failed to score on both occasions, letting in three from Brynäs and two from SHL leaders Skellefteå AIK, however, they've played strong attacking games, outshooting their opponents on both occasions.
It's not all doom and gloom, as looking back one more features a dominant 5-1 win that showcased what we usually see from the traditional Swedish club: their magical touch in front of net.
Fine form for earlier in the year also means they are locked in second place in the 14-team SHL standings and only points behind leaders Skellefteå and given Frölunda's astonishing record in this competition, don't let their recent rough results cloud your judgement!
Despite the untypically poor results, a positive to take away from Frölunda's game is that they been active up front, just missing the final touch to turn things around.
Luleå Hockey
Since beating EV Zug in the CHL Semi-Finals in late January, 2014/15 CHL Champions Luleå Hockey have played 10 SHL games, winning six, including two of their last three games!
Luleå, who had a tough first half of their domestic season, have really turned things around recently and have been strong on the puck and up front, adding to their traditionally strong blue-liners and goaltending.
Familiar names have dotted the scoresheet, with their Top Scorer in the CHL, Mathias Bromé, being especially active, as have teammates Pontus Andreasson, Anton Levtchi and others!
Their most recent game saw them lose to SHL leaders Skellefteå, but it was as tight as it could've been, with the two teams inseparable in regulation time and overtime, forcing Skellefteå to steal the extra point in a shootout.
Of special interest is Luleå's dominant 7-3 win over CHL Finalists Frölunda. Luleå outshot their opponents, were stronger on face-offs and overall played a very tight game. But that was at home, come Tuesday evening, they will be lining up against Frölunda in a packed Scandinavium and that could be an entirely different experience.
Since the new year, Luleå have played 18 games in all competitions with a 12-6 win-loss record, proving they enter the Final in strong form! However, they have lost three of their last four away games...
