As reigning champions, the Frölunda Indians have no intention of easily handing over the European Trophy to any team. We are on the chase for our fourth title and will be prepared when the CHL season starts in just a couple of days.
You always enter the tournament from scratch, but nevertheless it will be interesting and fun to start competing again at such early stage of the season. In this way the CHL really has enrichened the European hockey schedule.
Since the tournament was created, the Champions Hockey League has been important for the Frölunda Indians, for various reasons.
Frölunda is one of the founding clubs, which is a statement in itself and a responsibility we take seriously. Frölunda takes pride in being one of the owners of the tournament and the club is determined to help it grow to it’s full potential.
We are anxious to get the new season started.
We lost the first ever CHL Final in Luleå against Luleå and the instant disappointment evolved into something else. To win the CHL became a necessity for us and we were determined to chase the next title and we achieved our goal in Oulu in Finland in February 2016.
We won a second title at the Frölundaborg one year later and lifted the trophy for a third time in a packed Scandinavium earlier this year.
The Champions Hockey League is important for the Frölunda Indians for obvious reasons and the tournament gets better and better year on year. There are no easy games in the CHL and from day one it will be a challenge no matter which team from which country you face.
We have certainly improved as a club and team from the CHL experience and are anxious to get the new season started.
We know we have the trophy on loan, but we will not hand it over easy nor willingly.
