Following the Group Stage Draw for the 2022/23 season of the Champions Hockey League, we spoke to representatives of the teams drawn into Group F to find out their thoughts about their opponents.
Group F features 2022 SHL champions Färjestad Karlstad, ICE side Villach SV, CHL newcomers the Straubing Tigers from the DEL and CHL returnees Comarch Cracovia from the Polish Ekstraliga.
Cracovia Head Coach Rudolf Roháček was generally happy with the Draw, saying, "We could have been drawn against stronger, but also easier teams. We have a lot of work ahead of us to be worthy opponents come August."
The Czech native, who has been at the reins of the club since 2005, also said that his personal preference was to face Oceláři Třinec, who were at one point drawn against the Poles, but due to a clash with another team from the Czech Republic they were moved elsewhere.
Färjestad's Assistant Coach Thomas Rhodin was also at the event and was first and foremost "happy to be here".
His thoughts on his opponents? "It's hard to say right away, but I know Straubing and Villach. It's going to be a big challenge!"
Gaby Sennebogen from Straubing said her side were "ready to start".
"This is our first time in the CHL, we are really excited and proud of our club," she said, adding that she is happy about the clubs they will face in their first-ever CHL Group Stage.
Andreas Napokoj of Villach SV "loves the group".
"We've got a top opponent in Färjestad, Straubing is a team we know well," said the organisations's CEO, "the Polish club is unknown to us, but it will be a great experience to go there and play!"
