Ahead of the start of the upcoming Champions Hockey League season, we asked the Head Coaches of Storhamar Hamar's six Regular Season opponents what their thoughts are on the Norwegian team - here's what they had to say!
ZSC Lions Zurich General Manager Sven Leuenberger: “Although Storhamar will be the underdog, we need the right attitude on our part to have a good start to our CHL campaign.”
Fribourg-Gottéron Head Coach Patrick Emond: “Storhamar won everything last season. Their strong point is offensive power with more than 200 goals scored. The trip to Norway will also be a chance to unite the team.”
Genève-Servette Head Coach Jan Cadieux: “Storhamar beat Genève-Servette twice in the CHL in 2015! First at Les Vernets (3-0), then at home in Norway (5-1). This season, they won the championship for the first time since 2018, and the team can count on two players with undeniable offensive talent to set defences on fire. Patrick Thoersen (ex NHL and KHL) and Peter Quennevile have between them scored almost 170 points this season. Let’s not repeat the mistakes of the past and be successful against them.”
Växjö Lakers Head Coach Jörgen Jönsson: “One of the top teams in Norway. A lot of experience on the team and on the coaching side.”
Lausanne HC Head Coach Geoff Ward: “Made up of experienced players from the major international leagues such as Jakob Kindl, who played more than 300 games in the United States, this team dominated its league with a solid defence.”
Färjestad Karlstad Head Coach Tomas Mitell: “Our nearest rivals in the Regular Season. We always have a large number of Norwegian hockey fans coming to Karlstad to watch Färjestad play – now they’re going to come see their own team playing us. We are really looking forward to that game!”
