Ahead of the start of the upcoming Champions Hockey League season, we asked the Head Coaches of Färjestad Karlstad's six Regular Season opponents what their thoughts are on the Swedish team - here's what they had to say!
Lahti Pelicans Head Coach Juhamatti Yli-Junnila: “A perennial success from Sweden and last season’s SHL regular season winners. A top-tier team in Europe and a tough benchmark for us.”
KAC Klagenfurt Head Coach Kirk Furey: “Färjestad Karlstad is one of the biggest brands in Swedish hockey and has had a leading role in the SHL for several decades now. It’s a privilege to face a hockey team of this calibre, our team will be forced to push our tempo and quality of play to Färjestad’s level to compete with them. It’s going to be a great experience for us to play in Karlstad.”
Fehérvár AV19 Head Coach David Kiss: “Färjestad have a great defence, it will be tough to break through them. It will be a challenge, but I believe our team can rise to the occasion and show what we are capable of.”
Tappara Tampere Head Coach Rikard Grönborg: “Färjestad are a team everyone expects to be a favourite to win the CHL. They are a perennial top team in the SHL and they have the financial muscle to field a team of top European players, many with National team and NHL experience.”
Oceláři Třinec Head Coach Zdeněk Moták: “The SHL is perhaps the best league in Europe and Färjestad are one of the top teams there. Many national players play for them, including Czech World Champion David Tomášek. The game will be played in the autumn, when the domestic competitions will be underway, which makes it all the more quality and challenging. It may well be a game for crucial points.”
Storhamar Hamar Head Coach Petter Thoresen: “Färjestad need no further introduction to fans in Hamar. They’re most peoples’ second favourite team as they are situated just over the border from us. This is going to be a good one for the fans. With former Storhamar player Linus Johansson as their captain, that will be something extra too. We look forward to playing them!”
