Ahead of the start of the upcoming Champions Hockey League season, we asked the Head Coaches of Pinguins Bremerhaven's six Regular Season opponents what their thoughts are on the German team - here's what they had to say!
Genève-Servette Head Coach Jan Cadieux: “Bremerhaven are a team that have been improving each and every year. They dominated the DEL this season, even though they lost in the final. It’s no coincidence that they’ve had such a successful season. They can count on a duo of Slovenians who are scoring goals in quick succession and who are pulling this team towards success. We’re expecting a hard-fought, physical game.”
Lausanne HC Head Coach Geoff Ward: “Last season’s DEL runners-up, the team has turned a corner and established itself as a major force in Germany. With their Slovenian attacking duo (Jan Urbas & Ziga Jeglic), Bremerhaven look set to be a tough opponent.”
SønderjyskE Vojens Head Coach Anders Førster: “Bremerhaven are a very strong team. They won the regular season in Germany and lost the final to another of our opponents. They are a well-known team for the Danish fans because they have four Danish players on their roster. A team that can go far in this competition!”
Rouen Dragons Head Coach Fabrice Lhenry: “In terms of performance, the Bremerhaven team has achieved solid results in recent years in the DEL, finishing in first place in the regular season and reaching the finals in 2024. Their regular participation in the playoffs demonstrates their consistent competitiveness. Pinguins Bremerhaven are participating in the CHL for the second time, marking their return after their first participation in 2021/22. They have the potential to go as far as possible in this competition. They’re very strong defensively and rely on an excellent goaltender.”
Sparta Prague Head Coach Pavel Gross: “A very tough opponent with fantastic fans behind them. I’m honestly glad we’re playing them at home. This team can always beat the big favourites, they are very persistent and determined to succeed.”
Skellefteå AIK Head Coach Robert Ohlsson: “A team that will be tough to take on. A well-coached team that will be a difficult opponent.”
