The Champions Hockey League Round of 16 ended in spectacular fashion with three more teams across Europe edging into the Quarter-Finals to seal their place in the Top 8 of the 2025/26 season.
And with five qualifiers on Tuesday, we now have a full line-up for the Quarter-Finals - here they all are!
Lukko Rauma
It's a fifth Quarter-Finals qualification in six CHL seasons played for Lukko Rauma! The Finns played a strong Regular Season and won both home and away against Storhamar Hamar in the Round of 16, advancing to the Top 8 with an 8-4 aggregate win. However, they've only advanced onto the Semi-Finals once in the past, so there will be a lot riding on their QFs this season!
Luleå Hockey
The Swedes came out on top in the clash between the reigning SHL and the Czech Extraliga champions! Past CHL Champions and two-time CHL Finalists Luleå Hockey have their resilience and hard work down to the final minute in the Round of 16 First Game against Kometa Brno to thank, with the five goals in the final period helping them stay on top of things in the Return Game in Czechia.
EV Zug
The Round of 16 has often been the end of the road for Champions Hockey League veterans EV Zug, so the Swiss decided to do all the hard work on their path to the 2025/26 Quarter-Finals in front of their epic home fans in Switzerland, winning the First Game 6-0. The Return Game of their series against Sparta Prague did require Zug to keep up with the Czechs, who looked like they could trouble the Swiss side's series lead at times, but ultimately, they held Sparta's attack back and are in the QFs for only the third time in their CHL history!
Frölunda Gothenburg
It just wouldn't be the CHL Playoffs without Frölunda Gothenburg, would it? The four-time CHL Champions and most decorated team in the competition's history were a menace in the Regular Season, finishing third behind a duo of Liiga teams, and continued to trouble Europe's best in the Round of 16. They won on the road against Grenoble and held on just long enough in the Return Game, holding back the French side when they really upped the pressure. It's looking like another strong season for the Swedish powerhouse club!
Brynäs IF
For a long stretch of their Round of 16 Return Game against SC Bern, it was looking like the Swiss side would be the team keeping their quest for the European Trophy alive, but a whirlwind turnaround in the third period and an inch-perfect OT series-winner propelled Brynäs IF past the Swiss giants and into the next round! Last time Brynäs played in the CHL, their journey ended in the Top 8. Will they pull off the Semi-Finals this year?
Ilves Tampere
The Regular Season Winners remain the team to beat in 2025/26. Ilves Tampere dominated the first phase of the season, ending with a perfect record across the first six games and have now added two more to their series across the Regular Season, dispatching a resilient Pinguins Bremerhaven side. Keep an eye on these juggernaughts in the Quarter-Finals!
KalPa Kupio
On par with compatriots Ilves, KalPa Kuopio look to be one of the strongest teams in the competition this season. The Finns finished second in the Regular Season and, rather unbelievably, enter the Quarter-Finals unbeaten, having knocked out reigning CHL Champions ZSC Lions Zurich with 4-4 First Game and a 4-2 Return Game results. Watch out, Europe!
ERC Ingolstadt
DEL side ERC Ingolstadt have perfectly shaken off their early CHL woes, which saw them lose the opening two games of the season in front of their faithful home crowd. Since then, Ingolstadt have played amazing hockey and beaten some big teams on the way. Their Round of 16 match-up against Red Bull Salzburg was one of the most anticipated heading into the Playoffs, but a stunning 6-2 home win really proved Ingolstadt meant business and they grinded out the result they needed on the road to move onto the CHL Quarter-Finals for the very first time!
