There have been some brilliant performances through the opening stage of this year’s Champions Hockey League, with players impressing across all teams. However, only a select few can earn the right to be named on the Team of the Regular Season. Here's our pick of the ultimate six-player line-up:
GK - Markus Røhnebæk Stensrud
After missing out on the Playoffs last season, Storhamar Hamar will skate out for CHL Round of 16 action again very soon and in large part, they have goaltender Markus Røhnebæk Stensrud to thank for that.
Storhamar's home-grown player is already in his second season of pan-European hockey and recorded solid stats last season, but 2025/26 has been one clutch save and game after another for the 21-year-old.
Across four Regular Season games, the two-time Norwegian champion recorded a near 94% save percentage, making over 100 saves in the process and letting in just seven goals. He's held his team in important late pushes and helps grind out important points when needed.
Given that, we think our Team of the Regular Season is in very safe and capable hands with this choice.
DE - Eric Gélinas
NHL and European journeyman Eric Gélinas has had a dream start to his 2025/26 CHL campaign with Lukko Rauma, helping the Finns with crucial plays from the back.
The veteran player jumped on for all six of Lukko's games in the Regular Season and ended the first phase of the CHL season as the team's Top Scorer with eight points (3G, 5A) scored.
The 193 cm tall Canadian has been sturdy on the blue line, blocking shots and dishing out hits to protect his team's net. Given his average of nearly 20 minutes of time on ice per game, he definitely has Lukko's trust and he has ours as well!
DE- Mason Klee
Another towering D-man on our list and this spot goes out to the Odense Bulldogs' Mason Klee! The 26-year-old American is shining in his first season with the reigning Danish champs so far and despite his debut CHL season being over for this year, he's given us all we need to take him on as our second defenceman for our 2025/26 Team of the Regular Season.
Six points in six games played (with a healthy split of 3G and 3A), over 23 minutes of average time on ice per game, 13 blocked shots, a number of big hits and overall an impressively strong game throughout the first phase of the CHL season make this choice a no-brainer.
FW - Mārtiņš Dzierkals
If you've watched any of Sparta Prague's games this CHL season, then you've surely noticed their Latvian magician Mārtiņš Dzierkals.
The 28-year-old now has 25 games of CHL experience spanning across three seasons and he's never been in finer form, recording five points in six games played (of which four are goals), a sparkling +5 +/- rating, a 30% shot efficiency, but mainly eye-watering stick-handling skills and nerves of steel in front of net.
All this is backed up by his CHL-high of two game-winning goals, which really helped Sparta rise the standings over the course of the Regular Season.
FW - François Beauchemin
François Beauchemin has had an epic start to his CHL career! The Grenoble forward has been one of the leading stars on the team as the French champions stormed to a Top 16 finish in the Regular Season and will continue their season in the upcoming Playoffs.
The 29-year-old has been a staple of Grenoble's play with five goals and three assists across six games played, making him one of the highest-scoring players of the Regular Season.
He's also kept his play relatively disciplined, despite being a hard-hitting forward that isn't afraid of chasing the puck and making his own space on the ice, and it's his hunger and energy that really caught our eye with this pick. Can't wait to see more from him soon!
FW - Jan Urbas
Bet you saw this one coming! Whichever way you look at it, Slovenian sharpshooter Jan Urbas was sure to have a place on our Team of the Regular Season.
The Regular Season Top Scorer scored six goals in six games and added another two assists to sweeten the pot. Game-winner? Check. Powerplay strike? Make that three! Urbas hasn't put a foot wrong and has started his third CHL season in the way he's played in the last two - on fire.
The Pinguins Bremerhaven captain and long-standing Slovenian national team player has proved he hasn't lost his eye for scoring and reading the game like a book and continues to use all his experience to control the game to his liking - that's a player every team lusts to have!
