A spectacular end to the Champions Hockey League's 11th season saw Frölunda Gothenburg beat Luleå Hockey in an agonisingly close CHL Final 2026 to win them their fifth European Club Champions title and further cement them as the most successful team in CHL history.
But that was just the culmination of an action-packed year across the board in which we saw many players really rise to the occasion and hold their teams when the going got tough. Unfortunately, our Team of the Season for 2025/26 only has six spots, so here's our pick of the truly best line-up from across Europe!
GK - Tobias Normann
Frölunda goaltender Tobias Normann had an amazing Champions Hockey League debut season. The Norwegian played seven games across the 2025/26 campaign, ending with a very respectable 92.13% save percentage.
24-year-old Normann shone with over 110 saves to his name, sparkled with a 6-1 win-loss record and went straight into our Team of the Season following a strong, determined showing in CHL Final 2026, winning him his first-ever European Club Champions title,
Oh, and he recorded a shutout against HC Bolzano all the way back on Game Day 1 to further add to his highly impressive first stat sheet on Europe's biggest club ice hockey stage.
Normann is simply a no-brainer for us in net!
DE - Eric Gélinas
NHL and European journeyman Eric Gélinas had a dream 2025/26 CHL campaign with Lukko Rauma, helping the Finns with crucial plays from the back and proving his weight in gold on their run through the Regular Season and deep into the Playoffs.
The veteran player jumped on for all ten of Lukko's games against Europe's elite ice hockey clubs and ended the season as the team's Top Scorer with ten points (4G, 6A) scored.
The 193 cm tall Canadian was also sturdy on the blue line, blocking shots and dishing out hits to protect his team's net. Given his average of over 18 minutes of time on ice per game, he definitely had Lukko's trust and he gets ours as well!
DE - Henrik Tömmernes
A strong two-way defenceman is a huge asset in modern hockey and in three-time Champions Hockey League Champion Henrik Tömmernes, our Team of the Season will have just that!
With 12 games played across 2025/26, Tömmernes scored 4 goals and 6 assists. He has big hits to his name, game-winning goals, powerplay goals and a very disciplined record under his belt, all while averaging over 23 minutes of time on average.
With his years of European hockey experience, the 35-year-old, 186 cm D-man also played a crucial role in CHL Final 2026, where he was the player with the highest ice time (attacking the 28-minute marker!) and pitched in with two assists on the memorable night. A big game player!
FW - Mathias Bromé
Luleå Hockey's Mathias Bromé had a superstar Champions Hockey League debut with the CHL Finalists, jumping on for all but one of their games in 2025/26 and playing a vital role in their play.
11 points (2G, 9A) reveal he had a hand in his fair share of goals across the year and with high productivity numbers also on display, the Swedish sharpshooter is a set-up play king any big team needs.
FW - Grégory Hofmann
33-year-old EV Zug forward Grégory Hofmann made the Champions Hockey League Semi-Finals with Zug this season, scoring six goals and seven assists in 11 games played to win our LGT Top Scorer Award for 2025/26!
Now with five seasons of the very best European club ice hockey under his belt, Hofmann has the experience and eye to go toe to toe with all of Europe's contrasting styles of play. A player we can't miss on our six-player roster.
FW - Riley Barber
ERC Ingolstadt enjoyed their best-ever CHL season in 2025/26, with a memorable run up to the Quarter-Finals that saw the Germans play some amazing games and some of their players have great seasons against Europe's very best. Chief among them was North American sharpshooter Riley Barber, who ended the year as one of the competition's most productive players!
The 32-year-old scored an amazing 6 goals and 6 assists in 9 games played, boasting a record featuring a perfect mix of goals and assists, while also including a game-winning goal and two powerplay strikes.
What more can you want from a forward who can shoulder the responsibility when needed, but also keeps a good check of his teammates in front of net. Definitely a player you want on an all-star team like ours!
