While ice hockey’s tradition began on outdoor rinks and ponds, eventually it proved more comfortable (and profitable) to move this evolving sport inside. Arenas packed with fans huddled together watching the game would become a common sight on both sides of the pond. 

As the sport has grown, so, too, have the arenas.
