Last night, the Grenoble Brûleurs de Loups forced a seventh and deciding game against the Rouen Dragons in the Ligue Magnus finals on Tuesday. Therefore, we will know the French champion and CHL qualifier on that day, and more could be coming this week, as Belarus, Poland, and Norway are in the midst of their finals. As well, results from the semi-finals in Austria, Finland, Germany and the Czech Republic could yield the final qualifiers from those leagues as well.
Check out who's already qualified here
The usual suspects are in the finals of the Belarusian Extraliga, with Yunost Minsk leading Neman Grodno 2-1. Likewise, Comarch Cracovia lead GKS Tychy 2-1 in the PHL finals. Norway’s GET-Ligaen is in its final series, with Storhamar Hamar and Frisk Asker tied 1-1. If one of those teams wins the next three games in a row, we will have Norway’s CHL qualifier before next Monday’s update.
Denmark and Slovakia also know their finalists, although neither series has started and they won’t crown their champions within the next week. In Denmark, Rungsted IK, looking for their first CHL appearance, go up against SønderjyskE Vojens, Denmark’s representative in the CHL’s first two seasons. In Slovakia, two-time reigning champs HC05 Banská Bystrica take on two-time CHL qualifiers HK Nitra.
In Austria, the Vienna Capitals are one win away from qualifying for the EBEL finals against KAC Klagenfurt. If that happens, Klagenfurt will join Vienna and Graz in the CHL at the expense of Red Bull Salzburg, who trail Vienna 3-2 and must win the next two.
In the DEL semi-finals, Kölner Haie trail Adler Mannheim 3-0. They face elimination on Tuesday night, and if they don’t win the next four games in a row, the Augsburger Panther will qualify. In the Czech Extraliga semis, Kometa Brno are the last unqualified team still remaining, and they trail 2-1 to Bílí Tygři Liberec. They could be eliminated as early as Thursday, and if that happens, Mountfield HK will qualify.
The last league that could see a qualifier this week is in Finland, but that’s far from a sure thing. Both HPK Hämeenlinna and IFK Helsinki are in the Liiga semi-finals, while TPS Turku wait for them to be eliminated if they're to qualify for next season.
