Europe's top leagues are back into full action this week after the Olympic break. We take you through a quick guide as to who could make qualify for the 2018/19 Champions Hockey League next.
In the Czech Republic, Mountfield HK need just three points over as many games to book their second season in the competition. With a full game day in the Extraliga tomorrow, a regulation loss for Třinec will qualify Mountfield for the CHL, as the team from Hradec Kralove has the superior Head-to-Head separator. The other two places for Czech teams will be decided in the playoffs.
Sweden's SHL still has eight rounds to go, although Växjö are already qualified as they can finish no lower than second. Djurgården lead the chase to finish behind them, but wth 24 points still on offer Frölunda or Farjestäd could still catch them.
There's still quite a way to go in Finland, with Liiga teams having between five and six games remaining. Kärpät Oulu can qualify tonight if they win, or JYP fail to take any more than a point. The current CHL Champions are already qualified, but also trail TPS in the standings with the Turku side hoping to qualify as the second team from the regular season - as are Tappara, who are a few points further back. Three other places will be decided in the playoffs.
Switzerland's National League sees a full game day tomorrow. We already know that SC Bern will play in the CHL next season, but who's going to join them? With only three rounds to go EV Zug are in the driving seat to claim the second regular season place, but EHC Biel are only four points back. Another two places will be up for grabs in the playoffs.
Vienna Capitals won the EBEL regular season and have their place booked for next season already. The season is now in the middle stage, where the winners of the 'Pick Round' will also get a spot in the CHL. Should Vienna also top that, it'll go to the next team. Salzburg and Linz are well in contention for that, and play each other tonight! The middle stage will end of Sunday, so we'll know the next Austrian team by then at the latest.
Finally in Germany, Red Bull Munich qualified for the CHL by winning the regular season. We'll now have to wait until the playoffs for the other two spots to be taken.
In Belarus*, Denmark, France, Norway, Poland and Slovakia, the playoff winners will qualify for the Champions Hockey League - so we have some way to go before finding out who that will be. In Great Britain, whoever wins the Elite League regular season will qualify - currently it's headed by Cardiff, who are 10 points clear. Manchester and Belfast are giving chase but running out of games, meanwhile Fife have four games in hand on the Welsh side, and would be seven points off the pace if they won them all.
*Yunost Minsk have already qualified for the CHL by winning the Continental Cup. Should they win the Extraliga playoffs, the additional CHL place will be awarded to Slovakia as the next highest-ranked league.
