- Vital game for Group A Playoff places
- Both teams coming off losses in GD3
- KAC conceded 8 against Tappara, whilst Frisk Asker had hearts broken by EHC Biel-Bienne
In GD4’s final game, KAC Klagenfurt travel to Frisk Asker, with both teams in desperate need of a win to keep their Playoff hopes alive.
Frisk Asker are still without a win in their debut CHL season. They struggled to gain any traction on the road, but in their home opener in GD3, they showed why they were worthy Norwegian champions. Facing a tough EHC Biel-Bienne side, Frisk Asker kept pace the whole game and were desperately unlucky to come away from the game with no points. Frisk took the lead against Biel-Bienne through Alex Lavoie, although the Swiss side managed to take the lead through two late second period goals. In the final frame, Mikkel Seiergren Christiansen finished off an lovely team move to tie the scores, and give the home fans the something to cheer about. However, EHC Biel-Bienne scored another late winner, this time through Jan Neuenschwander, to steal the three points from Frisk’s grasp. With no points through 3 games, Frisk need this win to have any chance of getting through to the Playoffs.
Things were going so well for KAC Klagenfurt at home. Two games, two wins. However, their travels got off to a shaky start against a resurgent Tappara Tampere team, who were desperate to put a disappointing opening weekend behind them. KAC struggled to get anything going in Finland. Despite taking an early lead through Matthew Neal and Manuel Ganahl goals, Tappara dominated the game from the second period onwards. Charles Bertrand scored a hattrick in an 8-3 rout which included 4 goals in a 6 minute spell in the game’s final third. KAC will be looking to close out their Nordic tour with three points against Frisk Asker, which should set them up nicely going into their Group Stages clashes with group leaders EHC Biel-Bienne. Matthew Neal leads the team with 4 goals through 3 games, and he’ll be looking to continue his white-hot form in Norway
