Färjestad Karlstad displayed their strength and ambition from the get-go and won both of their home games at the start of the new season, but once they hit the road the games got tougher and they returned home with just one OT win and a loss.

Similarly to Färjestad, Red Bull Munich also started the new season just where they left off last season and won their first two Group Stage games whilst keeping clean sheets in both of them, but they also struggled on the road – they lost in OT whilst playing Bánská Bystrica in Slovakia and their first ever trip to the Valascia to face HC Ambrì-Piotta went to a shootout. Despite Munich securing the extra point from the match, they were arguably second best on the night.

Despite their form slightly dropping off in the last two games, they sit top of Group G with 9 points and are just one step away from qualifying for the Playoffs, but with Färjestad Karlstad only a point behind them and fellow Group H rivals Ambrì-Piotta and Banská Bystrica both still in reaching distance of the Playoffs, both Munich and Färjestad have all to play for over the course of the next week and every single point could make the difference at the end of the Group Stage.
