- Skellefteå begin their two game home stand
- Lugano took a convincing win in the first meeting between the sides
- Both sides have one win and one loss so far this season
The action on Game Day 3 of the Champions Hockey League continues and in Group E, Skellefteå AIK face a rematch against HC Lugano.
In the Game Day 2 meeting between the two sides, Lugano took a commanding 5-1 win on home ice, so for Skellefteå, they’ll be hoping for a much better result when they return to their own arena for the next two games.
On Game Day 1, Skellefteå did manage to take a win, beating Eisbären Berlin 5-3, thanks to a double by Rickard Hugg, while goalie Gustav Lindvall stopped 33 of the 36 shots he faced to open their season with a win.
When they travelled to Switzerland to face Lugano however, it was a completely different story. Despite taking an early lead through Jonathan Jonsson, they couldn’t hold off the Lugano attack who took the 5-1 win.
For Lugano, it’s their first road trip of the season as they take on Skellefteå on Friday, before travelling to take on Tappara Tampere on Sunday.
Lugano did come away with a win against Skellefteå, but on Game Day 1 they dropped points to Tappara.
Daniel Carr has made an instant impression on the side, being joint top scorer in the CHL after two games, with five-points to his name so far, so he’ll once again be looked at to lead the charge as Lugano look to make it two from two against Skellefteå.
