- Wildcard Slovan Bratislava are yet to win a game
- Fribourg-Gottéron have three wins from three so far
- Can Slovan upset the Swiss side at home?
Debutants Slovan Bratislava have had a rough start to their first Champions Hockey League season. The wildcard team in Group F haven't been able secure a win, but the side continues to remain competitive in all games proving they can challenge Europe's best.
In their first game Slovan lost 5-3 against Swedish side Leksands IF, and in their next game the goal differential was reduced, with a 4-2 loss, a promising sign of improvment. Forward and Slovakian native, Tomáš Zigo leads the team in scoring with 3 points in 3 games.
Fribourg-Gottéron in comparison come with three more seasons of CHL experience and are currently sitting at the top of Group F. The Swiss side have had the best possible start to their 2021/22 campaign with three straight wins in regulation. Fribourg took the first game against Slovan 5-2, and have recorded two wins against Oceláři Třinec, 6-2 and 4-3 respectively.
The Swiss contenders are racking up points quickly and consistently with forwards Julien Sprunger, Killian Mottet and Christopher DiDomenico all tallying five points after just three games. Andrei Bykov and defenceman Ryan Gunderson sit just behind with four points each.
Can Slovan Bratislava surprise the top seeded team with a win at home, or are Fribourg too strong to contain?
