- Zug stormed to a 10-0 win in the first meeting between the two sides
- SønderjyskE still looking to pick up their first points
- Zug come in after an OT loss to Rögle
The action keeps coming in the early stages of the 2021/22 Champions Hockey League season, and in Group D it’s a rematch between EV Zug of Switzerland and Danish side SønderjyskE Vojens.
The two sides have had slightly different fortunes at this early stage of the competition; both have suffered loss but only one has tasted victory
Zug are finishing up their home stand after beginning their season on the road, and come into the game off the back of two straight games with points, with their last game ending in an overtime loss to Swedish side Rögle Ängelholm.
Their first meeting against Rögle also ended in a loss on Game Day 1, but that was in regulation, so no points were earned there.
However, it was Game Day 2 that set these two sides apart, As Zug played their second road game with a visit to play SønderjyskE, it couldn’t have been any more one-sided in favour of the visitors.
Four goals in the opening period alone were followed up by even more as Zug stormed their way to a 10-0 victory with nine players registering multiple points on the night.
In front of their home crowd, and off the back of an overtime loss, they’ll be hoping to put in another dominant display on Saturday.
For SønderjyskE that was a heavy blow to take, and things haven’t been much better in their other two fixtures.
They opened with a loss against Red Bull Munich, losing 5-1 at home, before another loss to Munich followed on Game Day 3, this time losing 6-2.
It’s a tough ask for SønderjyskE but with their backs against the wall in Group D, they’ll be hoping to show that they may be down, but they’re not out when the puck drops on Saturday night.
