- First time face-off for both teams
- Belfast ready to capitalise on home advantage
- Skellefteå in second place in Group H
As part of Game Day 5 of the 2022/23 CHL season, the Belfast Giants head home to host Skellefteå AIK. The last time Belfast were on home ice, they managed to seize an epic overtime win against Oceláři Třinec after a ten-round shootout, giving the Northern-Irish team their first win of their second CHL appearance.
After securing three wins and one loss, Swedish veterans Skellefteå have accumulated eight points, affording them a comfortable second place in Group H. Skellefteå Head Coach Robert Ohlsson had this to share about his team’s forthcoming face-off with Belfast: “They’re an interesting team with great home fans! It will definitely be a tough away game for us.”
Adam Keefe, Head Coach of the Giants, also had some words to spare: “Playing in the SHL, the highest level of hockey in Sweden, and with a Swedish dominance on their roster - Skellefteå will be a challenging opponent!"
Will Belfast capitalise on their home ice advantage and give their loyal fans something to cheer about, or will the seasoned Swedes snatch their fourth win? Be sure to tune in for this one!
