Frölunda Gothenburg had a great start to their campaign with two wins at home. The Swedes took Czech side Mountfield HK first 4-2 and followed up with an even bigger win, 7-1 against German rivals Eisbären Berlin. The team from Gothenburg scored a mere 25 seconds into the play and had the pedal pinned to the floor for the entire 60 minutes of game time.

Forwards Ryan Lasch and Max Friberg have been the nightmare of netminders, with the duo netting five points each in two games. Lars Johansson has shouldered all of the responsibility in net with 120 minutes of regular time play, and a healthy save percentage of 93.33.

Berlin kicked off their first road trip with a commanding 8-2 victory over French side Grenoble but went down in flames during their second match-up in Sweden. Head Coach Serge Aubin conceded that his team were "off their game", but was adamant that they would learn from it and move on.

Despite Berlin not finding the back of the net easily against the Swedes, the Germans had no shortage of firepower in their opening game. Forwards, Canadian Zach Boychuck and Marcel Noebels currently lead the offensive charge with four points (2G, 2A), and three points (1G, 2A) respectively. Defenceman Frank Hördler also contributed with 3 points (1G, 2A). 

Currently, Frölunda are on the top of Group G with six points, and for second-placed Berlin to have any chance of knocking them off the top spot they'd need to limit the Swedes scoring capacity, while simultaneously ramping up their offensive effectiveness - a monumental task considering the reputation of the four-time CHL Champions.
