- CHL debut season for both teams
- Fehérvár still searching for first points
- Katowice have their eyes on a second win at home
After a few weeks off, Group D heads back to the ice, this time with GKS Katowice hosting Fehérvár AV19 for their fifth game of the 2022/23 Champions Hockey League season.
With three losses and one epic overtime win for reigning Polish champs Katowice, they enter this duel with a slight advantage. Adding to that is the fact that they are playing at home and will surely try and capitalize on the big energy from the crowd. Jacek Plachta, Head Coach of Katowice, had this to share about his team’s encounter with Fehérvár: “Polish people and Hungarians are like brothers to themselves, so we are expecting a good atmosphere in the stands, and we will try to do our best to give our fans good entertainment!”
ICE club Fehérvár have managed to score one goal in each of their previous games but have yet to score a win in their debut CHL season. Head Coach Kevin Constantine expressed this sentiment when asked about Katowice: “They are the team I know the most because I coached in Poland during the 2020/21 season. Katowice have been one of the strongest teams in the league for the past few seasons and we had an exciting six-game playoff series against them, with two of the games going into overtime. I look forward to revisiting that rivalry.”
If the visiting team want to secure their first CHL win, they'll need to keep a sharp eye on Katowice foward Grzegorz Pasiut who has managed to score three of the eight goals thus far. Will Katowice snatch their second win at home or will Fehérvár finally catch a win and get some points on the board? Tune in to find out!
