- Skellefteå went down 3-2 in their season-opener against HC Davos
- Oceláři Třinec had no problems taking Belfast 4-0
- It's a first -ime faceoff for these these two teams
The matchup of Skellefteå AIK and Oceláři Třinec will be a very interesting one. Both teams enter the competition as seasoned contestants, both sides have also qualified for multiple Champions Hockey League seasons and have somehow avoided ever facing off against each other. This season that comes to an end as the two most experienced teams in Group H prepare to lock horns.
Skellefteå have a wide breadth of experience competing against Europe's best. In their last CHL campaign they made it to the Round of 16, however previous seasons have included appearances in Semi and Quarter-Finals.
Continuing a trend of consistency, their third-place finish during the regular season of the SHL saw them finish just behind Rögle and Luleå Hockey. Although their hopes of going any further were ended during the quarter-finals, the CHL season represents a second chance to settle some scores.
In their opening match, Skellefteå went down to swiss side HC Davos, despite outshooting them 27-18. Forwards Oscar Möller and Rickard Hugg netted a goal each, but it wasn't enough in the end.
Třinec have been trapped in the Group Stage for their last three CHL appearances. Last season, Swiss side Fribourg-Gottéron and Swedish rivals Leksands IF ended their hopes of advancing further. The Czechs, although competitive, couldn't muster a win against either team.
This season Třinec have had a promising start, dominating Belfast in a 4-0 win, netminder Marek Mazanec was outstanding between the pipes stopping all 24 attempts by the visiting side. Forward Vladimír Svačina was the team's top offensive contributor, with two assists.
