- First time these two teams meet
- Group B dominated by seasoned Swiss club - already qualified for Playoffs
- Ljubljana have yet to snatch a win
After a few weeks off, CHL debutants Olimpija Ljubljana will share their home ice with Swiss powerhouse EV Zug as a part of Game Day 5. It hasn’t been an easy ride for the Slovenian Wild Card club losing all four matches with the most recent 4-0 shutout loss coming to the hands of Grizzlys Wolfsburg.
Ljubljana’s Head Coach Mitja Sivic will be the first to admit the uphill battle his team faces, saying: “We’re going to play with very good hockey teams with extremely good individuals. It’s going to be fun, yet very demanding. We don’t have high goals, but we are not here to participate, we are here to compete”
When asked about Zug in particular, Sivic had these words to spare: “We will do the scouting, we will do our job, but at the same time we are aware who is the favourite in this duel.”
As for the seasoned Swiss club, Zug have played exceptionally well capturing the 2022 National League title and currently remain undefeated in their 7th CHL appearance. Head Coach Dan Tangnes shared this about his team’s goals in the CHL: "We want to win, we haven’t made it through the Quarter-Finals yet and we want to go further than that, finally.”
Will Ljubljana capitalise on their home advantage and disrupt the Swiss winning streak? Tune in and find out!
