- Every point counts - currently a three-way race for Playoff spots in Group H
- Davos enter match-up in first with 9 points, Třinec third with 5
- Třinec need to win to keep Playoffs hopes alive
Czech Extraliga champion Oceláři Třinec face Group H leaders HC Davos in an important battle for points and Playoffs places.
Davos are currently in the driver's seat of Group H with nine points from their first four games of the season. They won three games on the bounce across Game Days 1-3 before losing 5-2 at home to rivals Skellefteå AIK before the three-week CHL break. The Swiss giants have showcased a very strong powerplay (24% conversion rate) and penalty kill (over 91%) and haven't had any issues scoring (16 goals for). Matěj Stránský has been the stand-out goal scorer of the season having scored five goals in four games, whilst five players have scored over a point per game for Davos. Both finding the net and defending the net hasn't been an issue for Davos - all they need to do is continue in what they've started and we'll be sure to see them in the Playoff Draw on 13 October.
It's been a tough start to the year for Extraliga champions Třinec. Though they have been dominating in Czechia picking up their third national title in a row last season, they've been struggling on the European stage. They beat Belfast 4-0 during their season-opener but then fell twice to Skellefteå before losing their Game Day 4 clash with Belfast in an OT shootout. Despite three losses, they've picked up five points and can still make it through to the Playoffs if they manage to beat Davos. It will take all they have, but if they tap into their inner Dragon, they could just manage to pull it off!
