Genève-Servette host Dynamo Pardubice in a match-up of two teams that will probably both advance but are jockeying for positions in the standings. Entering Tuesday’s action, they are neck-and-neck with nine points each – tied with three other teams for fifth place. There’s not much to choose between these teams, with Genève having a slight edge in goal difference, +11 vs. +8.

In fact, these are two of the better-scoring teams in the Champions Hockey League. Genève are ranked second behind only the Växjö Lakers with 20 goals scored and Pardubice are sixth with 16. Pardubice have the sixth-ranked powerplay at 25% and Genève have the fourth-ranked PK at 93.33%. These are also two of the better face-off teams in the competition – Pardubice are third-best at 57.67% and Genève are sixth at 54.59%.

There are 17 players with at least six points in the CHL and five of them are on these two teams. Marc-Antoine Pouliot, Sami Vatanen and Tanner Richard of Genève all have six points, as do Pardubice’s Tomáš Hýka and Peter Čerešňák. Pardubice forward David Cienciala has scored four goals, but from those he is the CHL co-leader with three powerplay goals and two game-winning goals.

Among other statistical leaders, Genève defenceman Simon Le Coultre is one of two CHL players at +8 and Pardubice forward Lukáš Sedlák has six hits, which ties him for third in that category.

After 11 National League games, Genève are seventh in the standings with 16 points. Their most recent game as a 3-2 shootout win over EHC Biel-Bienne on Saturday. Pardubice, meanwhile, still have not lost in regulation time through nine Czech Extraliga games and are tied for first place with 23 points.
