- Färjestad's excellent play in all situations a cornerstone to their success
- Fehérvár's inability to stay out of the box a concern
- Maintaining their strong play without the puck will be Färjestad's priority
Färjestad Karlstad continue to be one of the top teams in the Champions Hockey League, securing both games and scoring a combined 11 goals while only conceding two. In their last match-up against KAC Klagenfurt, the Swedes won handily, 6-2. The same cannot be said of Fehérvár AV19 who have struggled out of the gate, dropping their first two contests, with their most recent a 5-2 defeat against Sparta Prague.
Neither of the Hungarians' games have inspired much confidence in the club from the ICE. Their 7-0 loss to Dynamo Pardubice saw Fehérvár give up seven powerplays with the Czechs netting three powerplay goals. Then in their game against Sparta, the Hungarians allowed another three powerplay tallies. Undisciplined play has been their Achilles' heel so far this season, so staying out of the box should be their top concern.
The Swedes have been dominant in all situations so far this season. On defence, they rank second in fewest goals allowed per game with an average of 1.00; on offence, Färjestad again rank second with most goals scored per game with 5.50. In their match-up against Klagenfurt, the Swedish side secured three powerplay tallies and limited their opposition to zero high-danger scoring chances. As long as they don't sit back on their laurels, Färjestad are in prime position to earn their third victory.
An uphill battle awaits Fehérvár as they face off against one of the better competitors in this year's CHL. But could they prove the foil and engineer one of the biggest upsets this season?
