- Fehérvár searching for first victory
- Lausanne looking for extra points
- Both teams inefficient on the powerplay
Fehérvár AV19 will face Lausanne HC in their fourth game of the season. With the Hungarians still searching for their first win and the Swiss looking to strengthen their position on the leaderboard, both teams will be pushing hard on Saturday.
Fehérvár have struggled this season, failing to secure a single point in their first three games against tough opponents — Färjestad Karlstad, Sparta Prague and Dynamo Pardubice.
Their biggest issue has been a lack of offence, scoring just three goals while conceding 15. To have any chance against Lausanne, they’ll need to ignite their goal-scoring and tighten up defensively. Improving their powerplay would be a big step forward, as they’ve yet to capitalise on any of their six man-advantages this season.
Lausanne, on the other hand, have had a stronger start with a 2-1 W-L record. After losing in overtime to Oceláři Třinec, they bounced back with a 2-1 win over Pinguins Bremerhaven and then crushed Ilves Tampere 7-2 on Game Day 3. If they can replicate that performance, Fehérvár could be in some serious trouble. However, Lausanne’s powerplay could use some improvement as well, currently operating at just 15.38% efficiency.
Definitely keep an eye on Lausanne’s Antti Suomela, who netted a hattrick in the last game, and Ken Jäger, who scored twice against Ilves. Their contributions could make a big difference in Saturday’s matchup.
