- Both teams boast a 2-1 W-L record
- Třinec picked up unnecessary penalties in previous game
- Fribourg have solid defence
Oceláři Třinec will host Fribourg-Gottéron in their fourth game of the season, with both teams off to a relatively strong start in this year’s Champions Hockey League. As both sides showing great potential, it will be an interesting game to watch.
Czech Extraliga champions Oceláři Třinec have carried their solid form into the CHL, holding a 2-1 W-L record. They’ve scored eight goals but have also been vulnerable at the back, conceding seven. Their season-opener saw them earn an overtime win against Lausanne HC, followed by a two-goal victory over the Rouen Dragons.
However, their third game didn’t go as planned, as they lost 3-1 to the Växjö Lakers on home ice. Despite a decent performance, Třinec gave away unnecessary penalties, which didn’t cost them against Växjö but could be exploited by Fribourg in their upcoming encounter. Addressing discipline issues will be key if they hope to take all three points.
Fribourg-Gottéron, with seven points from three clashes, have also started strong. Their first game was a tight 4-3 win over the Sheffield Steelers, but they fell short against Storhamar Hamar, losing in a shootout. They bounced back impressively on Game Day 3, dominating KAC Klagenfurt in a 4-0 shutout.
Their defence has been solid, especially on the penalty kill, where they haven’t allowed a single goal. With an 8/4 goals for/goals against ratio, they’ve shown they can be tough to break down, making them an opponent to be respected.
Key players to watch include Třinec’s Libor Hudáček, who has two goals and three assists so far, and Fribourg’s Marcus Sörensen, who has contributed two goals and two assists this season. Both will be crucial to their teams' success in their upcoming clash.
