- One point separates the two teams in the standings
- Matthew James Bradley leads Bolzano scoring with 5 points
- Ingolstadt looking for more success on the road
Only one point in the Regular Season Standings separate HC Bolzano and ERC Ingolstadt on Game Day 5 of the Champions Hockey League Regular Season, with both teams straddling the Playoff cut-off line. As such, this match-up in South Tyrol could go a long way to determine if one or both of these teams are among the last 16 teams standing. Each team has advanced that far once in their previous four CHL appearances.
Bolzano have five points and enter the round outside of the Top 16. Matthew James Bradley is the team’s top scorer with five points, four of those assists, with no player on the team scoring more than two goals. Bradley also leads the team with 11 shots on goal. At the other end of the ice, goaltender Samuel Harvey has played every minute of Bolzano’s first four games and is ranked third in the CHL with 103 saves.
Ingolstadt have only one more point than Bolzano but are ranked within the Top 16, with many teams in a close fight. Scoring has been pretty equally split, but D-man Alex Breton leads the line with three goals so far, while up front, three players sit on a point-per-game average and Austen Keating leads the lot with a healthy split of two goals and two assists heading into the fifth game of the CHL season.
Neither team has been outstanding on special teams, with Ingolstadt’s powerplay and PK percentages ranked mid-tier, while Bolzano’s powerplay is in line with Ingolstadt's, their PK towards the last positions in the CHL. Both clubs enter a very important Game Day 5 duel with 2-2 records.
