- Bremerhaven opened with an overtime win against Zurich
- Grenoble still searching for first points after two losses
- Both teams meet for the first time in the CHL
Pinguins Bremerhaven have made an energetic start to their CHL campaign, showing they can go toe-to-toe with some of Europe’s best. Their first outing was a memorable 3–2 overtime win against defending champions ZSC Lions Zurich, capped by Jan Urbas’s extra-time heroics.
On Game Day 2, they battled Red Bull Salzburg in a tight contest that ended 3–2 in favour of the Austrians. Despite the defeat, Bremerhaven created plenty of chances and pushed the game down to the wire, proving once again that they are a side capable of competing with consistency at this level.
Grenoble, by contrast, come into Game Day 3 still searching for their first points of the season. The French champions began with a 2–0 home loss to SC Bern, where they struggled to break through despite long spells of possession.
Their second outing was even tougher, falling 5–1 to EV Zug, though Guillaume Leclerc’s late goal at least gave the home crowd something to celebrate. Head Coach Per Hånberg will be urging his players to find more efficiency in front of goal as they look to get their campaign moving.
Thursday’s clash in Bremerhaven offers two teams with different momentum. The Pinguins will aim to defend their home ice and strengthen their standing, while Grenoble seek a breakthrough win to keep playoff hopes alive. The mix of confidence and urgency should make for a competitive night in northern Germany.
