- Odense have shown a resiliency all season
- Ingolstadt are no stranger to turning momentum in their favour
- Both have shown moments of brilliance despite some flawed performances
ERC Ingolstadt managed to come back from a two-goal deficit as they registered three unanswered tallies to earn their third win in a 3-2 tilt against HC Bolzano. The Odense Bulldogs, meanwhile, managed to hold on to their one-goal lead and to achieve their second win of the season in a 2-1 contest against Red Bull Salzburg.
The Bavarian team has been dominant at times while being dominated at others. Through five games, Ingolstadt have managed to score 15 goals, but have also allowed 13 against. Their special teams numbers aren't very inspiring either, with them clicking at just 9.09% on the man-advantage while their PK has been middling at best. All this to say, their win over Bolzano, while not expected, was on par with what they've been able to accomplish this season.
Having won three straight, including a 7-3 pummelling against EV Zug, Ingolstadt have shown they can turn the tides in their favour at any given moment. But expect a more desperate effort from Odense who, despite giving up 19 markers this season, have also shown a resilience when their backs are against the wall.
For the Danes, their 2-1 win over Salzburg could in fact be a turning point for a club that sits tied for 13th place with 2.60 goals for per game while also being the fifth-worst team in goals against with an average of 3.80.
A third win could be monumental for the Champions Hockey League debutantes and, although the challenge looms large against an Ingolstadt team that's taken down tough competition already, the task is not insurmountable. Especially when you have a confident backstop in Niklas Lundström who was able to secure both of Odense's wins, including their recent steal over Salzburg.
