- Storhamar seeking a response after loss to Berlin
- Sparta opened with a 4–1 win over Klagenfurt
- Early test of Playoff ambitions for both sides
Storhamar Hamar began their 2025/26 Champions Hockey League campaign with a difficult night against Eisbären Berlin, losing 3–0 in front of their home crowd. The Norwegian champions created some chances, including a partial breakaway early in the second period, but they were unable to beat Jonas Stettmer in the Berlin net. Although their defence worked hard to keep the game close, they will need more attacking sharpness if they are to collect points from a tight set of opponents. Playing once again at the CC Amfi, Storhamar will be hoping to use their home ice to fuel a stronger performance.
Sparta Prague arrive in Hamar after making a statement in Austria with a 4–1 win over KAC Klagenfurt. Mārtiņš Dzierkals scored twice, including a short-handed effort, while Jakub Kovář stopped 20 of 21 shots in goal. Veteran Michal Řepík also made his presence felt with an assist on Sparta’s third goal. It was the kind of efficient display that showed why Sparta are considered one of the contenders to go deep in this year’s competition.
Saturday’s meeting offers a sharp contrast. Storhamar will be determined to bounce back and show they can compete with Europe’s elite, while Sparta will look to build on a strong start. With both sides motivated, the atmosphere in Hamar should set the stage for an engaging game to watch.
