- First CHL meeting between the two clubs
- Bern earned four points from their opening three games
- Kometa Brno unbeaten in regulation through first three fixtures
SC Bern come into Game Day 4 with mixed results from their opening stretch. The Swiss side began with a composed 2–0 victory on the road against Grenoble. They then suffered a setback against Luleå Hockey, conceding three unanswered goals in a 4–2 defeat despite a strong start.
Most recently, Bern were involved in a thriller with Mountfield HK. Fabian Ritzmann drew Bern level, Mountfield’s Connor Bunnaman put the visitors back in front on the powerplay, and Waltteri Merelä forced overtime before Lukáš Radil won it for Mountfield. With four points from three games, Bern have shown what they can do when they put their mind to it, but will be eager to find more consistency as they look to strengthen their playoff position.
Kometa Brno, meanwhile, have made an impressive start. The Czech champions opened with a convincing 4–1 win over Brynäs IF and followed up by defeating Odense Bulldogs 5–2. Their third outing was a dramatic 6–5 overtime loss in Bolzano, where Tomáš Zohorna scored twice on the man advantage, but the hosts snatched victory in extra time. Still, with seven points already secured, Kometa remain unbeaten in regulation and have demonstrated both offensive depth and determination and will look to return to winning ways once again.
Sunday’s clash in the Swiss capital will be a significant test for both sides. Bern will rely on their home support to steady their campaign, while Kometa aim to keep their strong start intact. With the Regular Season Standings tightening, this match-up could prove decisive in the race for qualification.
